Greek holiday ideas?

Anyone got any tips for where to start booking a family holiday in Greece? Mainland or island. One teen, one tween and one 5 year old! And middle dc is into Greek mythology so any historical sites are a bonus. I don't really know where to start!

Its difficult to decide as Greece is big with loads of Islands, we have been to quite a few places in Greece so I would go to Rhodes, the old town is great, plenty to see and do on the whole island.

It's a nice island with loads to see and do.
From memory you should be able to get a boat to Marmaris in Turkey its a great day trip and good for the kids to see.

We have always fancied getting the local ferry and staying on a different island whilst on holiday, bit of an adventure.
Cyprus is nice but take care as the resorts are very different, plenty of history stuff here

Its all down to what you want to see and do, we dont sit still much but we have enjoyed some of the quieter off the beaten track places.

This is a nice quiet place but its very busy on Cruise ship days, but just down the road is tranquil heaven, but I doubt the kids would like it apart from Olympia being down the road

Maybe think about the Peloponnese, to the south west of Athens. There are good fast roads from Athens and some brilliant archaeological sites, eg Epidaurus, Mycenae, Olympia; the Corinth Canal. It has lovely beaches everywhere, it's basically several peninsular. Look around Stoupa, perhaps, Koroni or Methoni. You could explore deep down in the wild Mani, visit caves. It has so much. It's understandably very popular with Greeks so really quite, well, Greek, unlike say some of the islands heavily tourists by Brits etc.

We love going to Crete. It is such a big island that there is something for everyone. Our family loves hiking so we normally choose a base town and then try different trails nearby. It's not very close to the sea, so for those who prefer being next to the beach not the best option. Good luck!
