Belgian Christmas Market - worth it?

Pre covid we always spent a night in a European Christmas Market with the kids, but the kids are now teens and am just trying to work out whether it is possible to do that at the moment. Adults are double vaccinated but kids aren’t vaccinated yet as we all had covid (for second time!) when they were doing the vaccinations at school and seemed pointless getting them after as we should have 90 days immunity (taking us to Jan 2022). Trying to pick through the paperwork and see if we can/if it’s worth going to Ghent to see friends for the night. Any ideas?

I wouldn’t bother, and I’d just go to a UK one instead. Do a city break here.

I don't think anywhere abroad for one night at the moment - all the paperwork is too much hassle! Ghent is beautiful though.

You need covid passports for everything now in Belgium and tests on arrival. I really wouldn't bother for the moment.

Ghent is beautiful but the rules around Covid change all the time at this moment. It might be risky to book a trip in advance.

If you like Christmas markets, Germany is the best IMO, Trier is the most beautiful one I have seen. Vienna (Austria) is also great around Christmas time.

Plus the numbers are increasing quite dramatically at the moment. There is no guarantee of things going ahead - though I did read the Brussels market plans to take place this year.

Have done Prague, Nuremberg, Strasbourg and Vienna.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with any of them - I would do Manchester and spend the extra in flight money on a nice, central hotel.

Also, a mnetter recently took her teens to Manchester and Afflecks was a real hit with them...
