Holidays
Inverness

I'm staying in Inverness for 3 days in April (travelling elsewhere in Scotland but having a stop in Inverness on the way home) with my 2x DC (3 &5yo).
We've already decided to go to Landmark Adventure Park for a day.
Any other nice suggestions in this area?
Also any recommendations for accommodation?
This is the first proper holiday with the kids. I really want a plan. Thank you fellow MNers.

Inverness isn't the prettiest of cities compared to other parts of the highlands although along the river is pretty. If you want to go Landmark for the day then I'd consider staying in Aviemore instead where there's family friendly walks, the reindeer centre, strathspey steam railway, highland wildlife park within day trip reach.......

If the weather is ok going dolphin watching is fun. There's nice pushchair friendly paths at the nature reserve near boat of garten. There's a great castle north of Inverness but I forget the name, on my to do list next time I'm up there - we actually quite fancy living up there when work isn't necessary, nearer to aviemore perhaps

Landmark is great! Take warm clothes and a change though. I also highly recommend the leisure centre and botanical garden in Inverness. The garden is free to go in and has a nice cafe. The leisure centre has a fun pool with "lazy river" and slides. Nearby there is a playpark and a crazy golf place. We thought Inverness was a beautiful and very friendly place both times we visited (once in a camper van and once from a boat on the Caledonian Canal). If weather is awful, as well as the leisure centre, there's a decent trampoline park further into town.

Landmark is a fair distance from Inverness, much closer to Aviemore. Boat trip is a good idea.

Urquhart Castle is great with children, they were re-enactors etc when we went. There’s a wee mini railway in Inverness that wee ones love.

We've been recently and we enjoyed
A walk to the Ness Islands. There was also a nice park with a lot of play equipment there.
Culloden battlefield museum was really good and interesting
Cawdor castle lovely huge gardens
Dolphin watching on the Black Isle
But my DC are a bit older 11 and 14 so possibly some of that would not be suitable eg Culloden

Abriachan forest Park is lovely and it's free!!! I live near so pm of you need more info

I really liked Urquhart Castle. You really need to see the information film (it’s about 5 minutes), the ending is so worth it.

You would probably be better going to Landmark when you are leaving Inverness as it's next to Aviemore.
If you are travelling south that is. You could spend nearly all day at Landmark depending on the weather.
