BA - anyone had any luck getting through on phone?

Hi, we're travelling on a BA package to Spain on Sep 1. They have cancelled outbound flight only - not hotel and not return. Have now tried for 8 days to get through to Holiday team and it just gets cut off. Has anyone had luck going through BA contact centre? They seem to be in meltdown.

You have to go through the phone tree and select all the options for sales/new flight bookings. The wait is ridiculously short (sub 5 minutes) considering they are apparently too busy to speak to anyone with any other problems. Like you I found following the correct options resulted in them hanging up on you. Disgusting really.

Thanks for the tip, @LakeShoreD. I need to sort out bookings with BA. I have autism and find the whole process really stressful.

Jumping back to say @LakeShoreD that thank you, it worked - to a point. 5 min wait BUT she was working from home and couldn't connect me to package team. Also couldn't escalate as was at home. She did, however, make a note for someone to call me back.

Fingers crossed! If you don’t get a call back I’d keep calling that line. I won’t bore you with the finer details but I’ve had a few reasons to call in the last couple of weeks including outbound/inbound flights cancelled and wanting to use a voucher from last year but no one knew what it was worth and found that sales line a complete mixed bag in terms of who could do what. And yes it’s massively stressful when you just need it sorting but you can’t even get through to a person!

Good luck and I hope you manage to save your holiday Grin

Goodness me the BA Holidays team is impossible!

Had to get my car hire updated after they changed my outbound flight.

I tried…

Calling pretty much every day for 10 days straight
DMs on Twitter
Messages on Facebook
Email
I even showed up at Heathrow one morning as I live quite close!

Eventually someone called me. They waived the flight change fees on the basis that it had taken me so long to reach them. I’d say just be persistent across all the platforms and sooner or later they’ll get back to you!

Hello Gang. Finally, I picked up a tip that worked: ring the Exec Club phone line. I got through after 50 mins but at least they didn't cut me off. Hope this helps if anyone else can use it.

I'll try that. Thanks, @fiestasprimavera.

I did this last year and it worked. I pretended I wanted to buy new flights and barely no wait
LakeShoreD · 16/08/2021 11:48

So glad to hear you’re sorted OP! I’ll remember the Exec Club line - good tip Grin

Better tip is to Tweet them / private message them on Twitter and ask for a ring back. I've always been contacted same day by a person willing to help! And I've done this loads of times now.

Bar Trailfinders Virgin and BA are a disgrace. Their teams are home working and clearly they are having a good old time at home because no one can see them or they haven’t got enough staff. Virgin was worse than this. Used Twitter and they contacted me 2 days later.

This is why home working doesn’t work. There are plenty of ways of fooling the system to think that you are busy. I used to work for a very large corporate who embraced home working for their middle and senior managers. There was little place for hiding. However when they offered it to the agents it was a massive disaster.
