Menorca

Just wondering whether anyone has been to Menorca pre Covid? I went in 1997 and was wondering what it's like now. I recall it being a very pretty, not overly touristy, island. I was thinking of taking the family next year as it's been 25 years that I last went.
Thanks

Definitely smaller and quieter than the other islands still.

I last went in January 2019 - it was really quiet and peaceful. The locals are lovely (I’m
Spanish and did notice a difference with other overly popular tourist areas), the weather good too albeit a little windy in winter, beautiful scenery. I’d choose it over Mallorca anytime.

We've been twice. Love it! How a car so you can travel around, there's a lovely zoo in the middle of the island, a Pretty Ballerinas factory shop over at Galleries, lovely glass bottomed boats in Ciutadella, gorgeous beach at Binibeca, and a lovely water park for smaller children at Punta Prima.

Thanks for your comments everyone Smile
We havent been anywhere overseas for over 15 years and so our passports have expired. We didn't have DS when we last went away so will need a passport for him too. He's not happy about going on a plane though so the whole thing might have to be abandoned which is sad as it's a big Birthday for me next year and I am determined to do something amazing.

@zurala.. I don't remember any of those places when we went in the 90s. It certainly sounds worth a re-visit ..now I just have to convince DS!

I returned to Cala Galdana 3 years ago after being there last two years in a row in 1982 and 1983
Still bloody lovely. All of it.
One of my favourite places.

@Geamhradh.. that's good to know thanks. It does sound just as good as the old days! We stayed at Cala Blanca and i remember it being just a short walk to a lovely small beach..I long to go back..

Cala Galdana is stunning. One of my favourite places in Spain and I'm Spanish. Menorca as a whole is superb, it doesn't cater for mass tourism and prices obviously are more expensive

OP, If you can spend a bit more stay at Melia Cala Galdana. Right on the beach and simply superb.

@Alondra.. thank you so much for the advice. Smile.

Yes Menorca is beautiful. Who needs the Caribbean?! Grin

Santo Tomas is lovely too.
Very family-orientated and no Brits on the piss.

I’m in Menorca at the moment (in Binibeca). Been coming for 16 years regularly and pleased to say fabulous Binibeca is .. as fabulous as ever! Still very unspoilt, and am so pleased to report that all the amazing restaurants have survived. Not so many British here as normal (but Binibeca not a typical Brits resort really anyway), but is is busy with Spanish, French and Italians

keiratwiceknightly · 26/08/2021 18:01

Beautiful island.

We like the north around Fornells. Less busy than Cala Galdana etc. Arenal d'an Castell is a lovely small resort ideal for families.

Another vote for Menorca we usually go every year, last time we went we stayed in Punta Prima also stayed in Alcaufar be hard pressed to find a resort we didn’t like.
Go & enjoy OP
