Urgent help required travel to Germany
Emma2021 · 06/08/2021 18:27
Hey
I need to go to my in-laws birthday party on 9th June to Germany.
I don't want to but have to because of my OH
Anyway, what tests do I need before we fly out for 2 nights and what do we need to do on our return.
I have read stories people are paying hundreds for a pcr test.
please help as we are really confused.
Thanks in advance.

Best to go onto gov website and look for the specific rules for Germany.
The Gov here are offering pcr tests for £17 per person so not expensive at all.

If you mean 9th June, you are going to need a time machine...
Emma2021 · 06/08/2021 21:49
Sorry, 9th June
I've looked at the gov website, still confusing and even more confusing is why would, are people paying hundreds for tests when you can get them for 17 pounds as stated by @purpleboy
Thanks

I assume you also need your nhs letter of proof of vaccination so you don't have to quarantine?

No, you don’t. You can say you’re not comfortable going.
HangingOver · 07/08/2021 09:51
You can go to Germany on proof of both Vax. If not vaxd you can use a fit to fly lateral flow. Day 2 PCR when you get back but no need to quarentine.
AuntLydiasNewHairdo · 07/08/2021 09:58
I wouldn't go. Too much hassle for 2 says. OH can go on their own.
Emma2021 · 07/08/2021 13:46
Hey @HangingOver
Thanks.
The proof, where do we get it from, please? we have the cards when vaxed.
So we don't need a pcr/etc to go to germany on the 9th if we have proof of being vaccinated?
Thanks all.

You can apply for an NHS vaccination letter online, but I doubt it'll arrive on time (takes about 5 days).
Not sure the exact site, but DD searched and downloaded an NHS covid pass app (digital for phones). Her second vaccination showed the day after, so it should all be there if you have had both vaccines.
IsabellesMissingSock · 07/08/2021 16:05
If you don't have the NHS medical record app (this isn't the same as the pinging one) then it can take a few days to get set up.
IsabellesMissingSock · 07/08/2021 16:09
So if you don't have it yet then you might not be able to get it sorted in time.
There's no option to do a PCR test as an alternative, unless you fit into a particular category. Those are available on the FCDO website.
HangingOver · 07/08/2021 18:40
It's on the app I think. Sorry, I work for a travel test provider so I only know about the tests!
Emma2021 · 08/08/2021 19:15
Thank you all.
Update, we are not going, thank my lucky stars. The main man has had a positive Covid test so official party id over. Good news they are doing well and vaccinated.
thanks all.
