Winter sun, 1 week, mid December - where would you go and why?

We are thinking that we might go away next December for a week of winter sun just before Christmas. DD breaks up around 14th or so of December normally, so we would get a week in and be home for Christmas day.

Have thought about Mexico maybe.

Where would you recommend and why?

if you were going that far then I would try and make it 10 days or 2 weeks if possible. If you fancy Mexico try Playa del Carmen rather than Cancun unless you want to be in party central. It also depends what you like to do on holiday? Mexico has some great sites to see-Tulum etc.
