A whole new world to us but next year we plan to spend a couple of weeks round Calgary/Whistler/Banff in a motorhome with our 2 DC age 9 and 12.

Are there any campsites which we shouldn't miss? Is there a book I should buy with all the campsites in? A brief look on Amazon revealed nothing!

I would just google “Canada by Motorhome” and lots of holiday providers turn up with itineraries. Check the info on //www.inafarawayland.com

I'm from Calgary originally and our last two holidays home we rented a motor home for a week to go into B.C. If you are taking the Trans-Canada highway route you go right past our favourite campsite. It's on Shuswap Lake at Herald Provincial Park. It's a microclimate temperate rainforest right on the shores of the lake. It has a nice beach, playgrounds, firewood for sale, a beautiful creek running through it and nice shower blocks. DS 8 and his cousins aged 10 to 17 had a blast playing in the lake.
The campsites in Banff national Park are beautiful but it is colder on the east Side of the Great divide so it gets cool at night.
Keep in mind that any driving times need to be extended because motor homes can't go very fast.

Thanks for those Percy and Foof. I absolutely love the sound of Shuswap! Research begins in earnest next week... after the schools are back. Yessssssss.
