We're planning on going sometime between May and July 2008 with DSs, just 7 and 9. We have friends in Calgary to spend some time with but what else is a must see/must do? And how long? I anticipate 10 days there. Ta!

Have been to Banff three times for skiing (before children) but the area is really beautiful in summer as well. The town is about an hour and a half's drive from Calgary and the scenery is amazing. About another 45 minutes further on from Banff is Lake Louise which is absolutely stunning as well.

We did a bit of shopping in Calgary - there's a few malls and the city centre is set up as a network of indoor walkways to keep you out of the cold in winter (obviously you won't be worried about that). There's also a tower in Calgary which gives a nice view of the area if I remember correctly.

We loved Banff, love Canada - can't wait to go back some day. I'm very jealous!

oohhh, I spent some time in Calgary (spent a year in Canada). Defn get up into the rockies as much as you can - Banff is cool (hot springs would be fun) - lots of amazing walking at that time of year.

I think it's in the summer. Stupid Q, possibly, but can you ski 'near' Calgary in May?
