40 birthday break with friends

3 of us turn 40 next year. We'll have a Budget of about £3000. Want a warm, relaxing break. Not France as I go there every year with my family.
Don't mind if it's a beach or city break. Thanks

Lisbon. You have the luxury of both a beach and city break! Plenty of culture, good food, and beaches down the road to relax on.

We went to Dubrovnik it was lovely- nice architecture, beautiful views and nice beaches. Nightlife was low key although we managed to have lots of fun

Barcelona

Look at marella cruises (assuming they survive covid) I paid £880 ai for a week in the med and spend about a further £100

Budapest. Gorgeous city, loads to do and see but good for just wondering around too. Cheaper than Paris, Barcelona etc.

Dubrovnik is eye wateringly expensive. Hands down the most expensive place I've ever been!

Barcelona is a good city to go to with friends, it has lots of restaurants, bars, beach and interesting architecture and art for daytime wanders. The flight time isn’t that long. I’d also suggest Nice but get France is out! I’d also look at Split ( very pretty, lounge around on beaches, swim in the sea, take boat trips, eat out in historic old squares in the evening) or Syracuse (Sicily - fly into Catania and 30 minutes on the train - beautiful old city founded by the Greeks, great food, lovely squares to sit out in eat of an evening and if you feel like some culture there are on the door step ancient ruins or take a trip to Mount Etna for a hike).

Best city breaks I've had recently have been Lisbon and Madrid.

Palma de Mallorca ticks a lot of boxes.
