OK new to this - what do I take for 5mo

Hi - sorry to ask such an ignorant question, but am new to this whole being a mum thing! We are off to Dubai in Nov with 5mo DS......in terms of kit what should I take for the sun? Will keep him out of the sun as much as possible, and cover him in suncream, but if we take him swimming in the pool (early morning, or evening) should we put him in a wetsuit, or a UV suit, or will he be ok with a swim nappy and hat? Thanks

we put DS in one of those baby warma wetsuit things on hol in sun. helps you keep a grip on them when they're wet too and dubai is cooler this time of year, but not as cool as here, so will keep his little body warmer and stay in pool longer. also wide brimmed hat.

we got a rayshade for his pram, so he slept in that outside, out of the sun, for his naps, so we could still be out and about

I would recommend taking one of those pop up UV protective tents etc for sitting by pool, on beach etc. If you're out for longer than an hour or so, they're perfect for sitting and playing in, windbreak if necessary and lying baby down for a sleep if you don't have pushchair.

I have always preferred the all-in-one UV protective suit also since it saves slathering them in cream every hour (you only have to do the exposed bits) and they dry out very quickly after swimming

Agree - definately a UV suit with long sleeves, sun cover for the pram (know you can get for Mountain Buggy). Also if using a front-pack I found a dark coloured sarong was useful for covering baby, but lightweight enough they can breathe. Have fun, very envious.
