Anyone live /lived in Paris or know it well?

Can anyone suggest activities to do in Paris with young children (aged between 8 years and 22 months) apart from the Eiffel Tower, which we would like to do, and Eurodisney, which we are NOT interested in. We would be there over New Year so they would have to be winter-friendly activities. Thanks.

Can't advise on activities as we spent New year there without children but a word of warning- lots of things were closed for New Year so do your research thoroughly, ie prebook restaurants.
Montmartre is always good fun, with street theatre, market stalls, yummy food on every corner.

Excuse my complete ignorance but is Montmartre an area/street? I don't think we will be going to restaurants sadly, as we have such young children (hoping to get a hotel with its own restaurant) but do you also mean that attractions are closed over New Year?

Montmartre is the area around the Sacre Coeur, very arty and buzzing.
You will be fine then if you eat in the hotel.
I would check on websites of attractions to see what is open, or if you have booked through a travel agent they should be able to find out.
