Eurostar to Paris over New Year

I am 40 on New Years Eve and am thinking of doing something memorable to celebrate. The kids would love to go to Paris on Eurostar and we live in the south east so I reckon we could do this, staying over for a night or two. Does anyone know of a cheap way of staying in Paris with four children (and two adults)? The Eurostar fare alone seems to be about 1000 Euros so we probably can't afford it at all, but I might break into the savings if anyone knows how we could avoid exorbitant hotel costs.

Don't know if this helps, but we stayed in a Novatel on the outskirts of Paris (but close to a train station) in adjoining rooms - one for us and one for the kids and it was very reasonable but can't remember the exact price. Have you looked on the Eurostar website for suggestions?

Yes but the "cheap" hotel still worked out at £300 for one night. (And that was only two rooms).

Thanks for those ideas. Presumably these places are close to the Metro?
