Holidaying in France

I am looking for a recommendation for a good villa in France. We went a couple of years ago to Rousillon in Provence for a couple of weeks and stayed in the most gorgeous villa. We don't really want to go further south than Provence but are looking for a nice little villa with a pool in a pretty village. We are going to be going with my mum and dad. The last time we went there were 8 of us so that villa we stayed in will be too big for us next year.

Any recommendations or advice very welcome, it doesn't have to be Provence but we need it to be far enought South so that it will be nice weather in June / July.

DD will be about 20 months then.

Try VFB (Vacances Franco-Britanniques). Not all their places have pools, I think, but most of the southern ones do. The west coast from Bordeaux south is warm at that time of year and the beaches reputedly clean, wide and empty.

We've used French Life a couple of times (www.frenchlife.co.uk), and also French Connections (www.frenchconnections.co.uk). This secpnd one is a website of all privately owned ones where you deal directly with the owener - so can can be good value.

Tillysmum, can I have details of the one you went to before? We are looking for a villa in May for 6 adults and 3 babies, with a pool.

AliJ · 25/09/2002 08:58

Tinker - just checked - it is up and running: www.sarlvoila.com/

We are also looking for a property in France next summer but preferably in Brittany near the beach. We are having great difficulty in finding something mid-range as everything either seems to be a grand manor house, and therefore really expensive, or miles away from the beach. Does anyone know of any brochures we could try?

There are 8 of us, 4 adults, 2 children and 2 babies (4 bedrooms would be fine).

we stayed in Pierre et Vacances appartments in Brittany last year nr Quimper. Very good appartments with pool and a beach just across the road. We booked through Cresta

Prufrock,

Yes, it was a gorgeous villa in Roussillon, I am attaching a link to the website but you can't search by villa you have to go by area so go to \link(www.abfrance.nl\ then go to 'Selection of houses' and then pick 'Vaucluse' and 4 bedrooms and swimming pool. The one we had is on the second page and the property ref is 195/S and it's in Roussillon, and is absolutely gorgeous.

AliJ thanks I'll take a look.

If anyone is interested, this property is for rent for the first 2 weeks of August for just £275 per week. I'm not connected to thh owner at all, but she just emailed after I failed to get back to her - feeling guilty, should have replied about 6 weeks ago!

Hope this isn't advertising, just seems a really good deal at that time of year
