Any ideas what I can do with a 6yo in London for the afternoon?

Am planning a 2 day trip to London with dd and dh.

We're coming down on the train Friday morning and spending Friday at the Natural History museum.

Will be going to Harrods Sat morning and have booked to see Father Christmas. We'll have to get the train back from Kings Cross Sat morning - any ideas for something to do/ somewhere to go Saturday afternoon. Not the zoo thanks.

And can anyone recommend anywhere we could eat Friday night and also for lunch Saturday. Thanks.

If the weather is nice you could burn some time and energy in Hyde Park?

Never been, but how about the aquarium? Would also give chance to watch the eye going round, and see Big Ben nearby.

Hamleys on Regent St? Pigeons in Trafalgar Square?

Got to be the Science museum!

Science museum has great kids section too, if you can face more museum stuff (or leave nat history a bit earlier on the Friday?)

the london eye is great.

re: eating - for linchtime, pizza express does a good children's menu and they are v child friendly too. There are branches all over the place, including the very top of charing x road just round the corner from traf square. No booking required.

South Bank is good, for London Eye, aquarium, mime artists and free displays in Festival Hall. Lots of places to eat there, including Giraffe. You can walk down the river to Tate Modern and the once wobbly bridge.

which do you think is better the science museum or the natural history? dd says she wants to see the dinosaurs so we definetly have to pop into the natural history museum - but is there other stuff worth seeing or would we be better off making a flying visit and then moving on?

Are they close by each other? I like the sound of the IMAX at the science museum.

Science museum gets my vote.

The natural history is wonderful... the dinosaurs are great. Not so keen on the huge collection of dusty stuffed dead animals.

sci and nat hist museums are next to each other. Agree lots to do on South Bank too.

I can add my vote to the Science museum as well - it's fantastic for adults and children alike.
X
