Quarantine regs - both ways?
Flights?

mummymeister · 18/05/2020 15:06

yes handbags everyone whose posts I read seems to be forgetting that they will have to quarantine for 2 weeks when they return. if you book annual leave with your employer they can ask if you if you are going abroad and if you are then they have a duty to make sure that you dont come back before the 14 days are up. you can claim SSP but still why would you go away for a week or two and have to quarantine for 2. Plus of course what will travel insurance even cover by then?

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 11/06/2020 13:33

Ha, I was meant to be going to Slovenia in a couple of weeks but Jet 2 have cancelled my flights and my travel insurance won't cover me so it's kind of a moot point.

AnyFucker · 11/06/2020 13:36

The prevailing advice from the FCO and quarantine rules on return are rather more relevant here

pinktaxi · 11/06/2020 18:48

My cousins have a small farmhouse there. Nestled in the hills, it's beautiful

cantfixstupid · 11/06/2020 18:52

@thatmustbenigelwiththebrie, may I ask which airport you were flying from and to please? Just curious for future travel :)

TheHighestSardine · 11/06/2020 18:59

I'm surprised any country who has done a good job with their virus control would let any English people in.

Zodlebud · 11/06/2020 20:48

Not this summer everyone...... but Slovenia is the most beautiful country and should be on your radar. We spent a week there last summer and had the most wonderful time.

^Quarantine regs - both ways
Flights^

FCO 'no non essential travel' advisory means that your travel insurance is invalid, presumably for all risks so if you have an accident and require specialist transport home, you have to pay the £££s cost yourself.

Just asking about Slovenia with Jet2 - DP wants to go mountain biking there, but hasn't been able to find any flights from northern England and I can't see Slovenia as a Jet2 destination, what route were you booked on?

BarbaraofSeville · 12/06/2020 07:48

That website says that it's opened it's borders to EU citizens, so might not include UK anyway.

Zodlebud · 12/06/2020 08:04

You fly to Ljubljana. From there it’s only a short (Easy) drive to the mountains and Lake Bled area.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/06/2020 08:18

Yes, I know that Zodle, but a PP mentions Jet2 flying there, which they don't as far as I can see. Jet2 are great for us as they do lots of flights from our 2 local airports, but not Ljubljana sadly.

The only UK flights I can find are from Luton, Stansted etc, so we'd have to work out whether we should drive there in the UK or fly to somewhere like Venice that we can get flights to from our local airports. But it's another moot point anyway, as it's not really worth the risk to book anything any time soon.

Zodlebud · 12/06/2020 11:47

Zagreb, Trieste and Venice airports are all close by. It really is a very small country.

We “double bubbled” with a week in Montenegro first (Flying into Dubrovnik) and then flew to Ljubljana from Podgorica. It was a brilliant trip.

totallyyesno · 12/06/2020 11:52

We went last year and it is a lovely country. Thinking of going back in August, all being well.

sansou · 13/06/2020 22:47

I’ve just cancelled all our accommodation bookings for late July/early August. Most of my deposits were also refunded and we will suck up the flight costs should they proceed. Staycation for us this year!

A small part of me thinks that maybe we should proceed since there maybe less tourists than usual because all the sensible people stayed at home and also that we should take the holiday before the second wave inevitably hits and it’ll be even longer before we have an overseas holiday.

And then my sensible voice reminds me that DH is a mild asthmatic, recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes, 50+ and bald (not that he would ever acknowledge that these make him a high risk statistically).

I love my holidays so this cuts deep!
