British Airways has cancelled flights

We were due to go to Malta at May half term, to visit relatives. The flights have been cancelled and BA is offering to book alternative flights. I don’t want that and would want a refund, don’t know what our plans will be next May which is DSs A level year amongst other things . The site offers cancel/ or re book buttons with no explanation of what cancel means so I don’t want to click on it! There’s no refund option.
Anyone else had joy getting refund from BA/ other airline?

You have to wait and call them up. At the moment I think they are saying only call if your flight is within 72 hours due to increased demand

I had to call them when they changed our flight times so much that the flight got pointless and needed to cancel. It took a while and convincing that I didn't want to re-book but it was quite painless in the end.

Bob, how did you find out about your flights being cancelled? I'm flying long haul in May, I'm assuming it'll be cancelled and I really do not want vouchers, so I'm just waiting atm.

We were due to go to the US with them last month and when they eventually cancelled DH had to phone to get a refund. Online you could a voucher I think but we just wanted a refund. It took him quite a while to get through but it was all fairly straight forward after that.

How far in advance did they cancel the flight Peridot?

@NW2SW - I cant remember exactly but it was quite close. The return flight was cancelled before the outbound.

We figured they would be cancelled so just waited it out.

@NW2SW They sent me an email. Check your spam inbox. Or it could be they are not cancelling you r flight/ haven’t made a decision yet

My BA flights were cancelled today, they were companion flights and booked with points and cash, rang them points re instated and full refund as well as an extension on companion flight.

I've been cancelled now, got an email that I'll be automatically refunded. I think it's because I booked a car with the flights, which is classed as a holiday. So hopefully it'll be relatively painless.
