Jet2 holiday abroad August balance due June

We have booked a family holiday with Jet2 for mid August paid deposit balance due in June. I would say in the current climate its highly unlikely the holiday would be going ahead anyway and as i don't think the CV risk is going away any time soon i dont think i would fancy any of us being ill in the Algarve. Should we pay the balance in June in the hope it gets canceled or cut our loses now? Or do you think the world will be a much safer place by mid August?

You will have a better idea in June.

However, the very real risk is that holiday businesses and airlines will become insolvent. If Jet2.com go under in July you would lose your money. So don’t pay them anything before you absolutely have to.

Same situation here. I expect they will cancel before the balance is due, but wait and see for the moment.

I'd not be paying the balance. Not a chance.
Even if hol was going ahead I very much doubt I'd be enjoying it.
This is not going to magically disappear by August and I'd not be risking going abroad so soon after a world pandemic if it does.

Thats what i was thinking @Spied. Thought i would maybe cut our losses and try to book something in Northumberland or Scotland for the same time as its good to have something to look forward to but don't even think thats viable or worth committing to now either.

Similar situation but with TUI. Holiday mid July, balance required mid May.

Same here with duinrell but I’ve had advise (and Martin lewis says this too) to pay balance otherwise you are cacenlling and you can’t claim. Use a credit card. My credit card said even if I cancelled card they could still take the balance . I can’t claim on insurance despite taking it out in sept as it doesn’t cover fco warnings! But can claim under sec 75 credit card terms

@tootyfruitypickle we only have debit cards but yes we intend to pay full balance
