Anyone had any joy getting through to EasyJet to cancel?

Tried many times on both the Webchat and Contact Centre channels but just can’t get through. We’re booked to go to Italy (my 50th birthday trip) at the end of May. DH (who booked and paid for it) wants to cancel - as it’s 2 months off I’m guessing we won’t be able to cancel & get a full refund based on current Foreign Office advice as it’s not an immediate trip. I know they’ve waived flight change fees but DH doesn’t want to rearrange during the current flight period they are selling (up to the start of half term). I guess our best bet is if we don’t want to loose the money is to wait until they release the Winter schedule in April and rearrange for the end of the year? As above, this was all booked by DH (I usually arrange everything) and cleverly the one thing he forgot was travel insurance (but at least paid by Credit Card!).

They are not answering phone at all. Customer care closed. offering vouchers online once flights are cancelled.

No, nothing. I've contacted my credit card company (sorted in under ten minutes) to process a cash back charge for the flights (£300) and hope I'll finally get through to easyJet for the baggage charge (£88) refund at some point as I paid for that on my debit card.

Yes we got through last Friday, and were able to process several flights in one phone call. We haven't been refunded yet, but hopefully that won't take too long. I would say keep trying.

I emailed last week about a cancelled flight that was at the start of this month. Not heard back yet... I want a refund. I don’t want to leave my house this year, never mind the country!

I finally had a reply from them... They have sent these instructions:

If you prefer a refund, email your request to [email protected]. As soon as your refund is processed, we will send you an email confirmation. It is extremely important that you enter the following information in the subject line of the email, in the same format as shown below. This will ensure we can process your request quickly. If you have more than one booking reference, please submit separate requests.

Subject Line : Booking Reference/Departure Date/EN

Example : ABC1D2E/16042020/EN

We were due to go to states 17th March. Virgin Atlantic have refunded flights but insurance company say we are not covered for hotel as not covered for pandemic. How can I claim back through credit card?

bingohandjob · 20/04/2020 16:50

Gather all the dates and booking references and the payment details from you credit card account and ring them to ask about doing a charge back and they can advise. If the hotel is closed they are not able to deliver the goods so it should be covered by that... Maybe the hotel will refund directly? The credit card company will ask what you've done to try to get your refund so worth asking the hotel first.

I had an email from easyJet today detailing the two payments I paid (one on credit card for the flights, second in my debit card for hold luggage) then totalling my costs and noting them as a payment by 'credit shell' , then listing two refunds (the flights and the hold luggage).

What the hell is a credit shell? Will my cards be refunded? Sorry to sound stupid but they have been hell to deal with. Nothing is clear.

I've looked at their social media where they've been asked this several times and they seem to do anything they can to not give a straight answer.

Update - have been fully refunded. Smile

SJaneS48 · 13/05/2020 12:20

Glad to hear it! We’re still waiting for our end of month flight to be cancelled so hopefully our refund will be smooth too!

Ok - so we have had the cancellation email, filled in the linked refund form but they quite clearly say that the refund might take awhile to come through. Ah well! Let’s hope they don’t go bankrupt before then
