Call asking about passport after it’s been issued

Ds received his passport over a month ago and yesterday I had a call saying that they needed to me to answer questions about his passport. They asked to speak to him or his parent or guardian.
I couldn’t take the call so asked that they call back next week.
Is this normal? They said they were from something that was three letters but I can’t remember what.
We’ve travelled using the passport.

You could look up a number for the passport office and call them direct,. Then you'd know if it's a genuine call or not.
