Warm lazy holiday in Feb

DD11 and I have done lots of city breaks with plenty of walking. We want to go somewhere more relaxing for half term (next week!). Her only criteria is somewhere with a pool (indoor pool I suppose in this weather) will do. I want somewhere that has some sights outside to see, isn't too busy or crowded. Short haul from Birmingham. Suggestions very welcome please. Thank you.

Kind of thinking, quiet village by the sea/beach. Really like the look of Lake Garda but no direct flights on the dates we are looking.

Warm in Feb is tricky when you want short haul. I'd look at the Canaries, if I were you. Nowhere else is going to be very warm at all and Lake Garda will be chilly!

Seville is looking warm

teenagetantrums · 11/02/2020 20:03

Canaries is only 4 hours and warm. Well l bloody hope so as we going in 2 weeks

I was in Portugal last week. It was 23 deg C on Tuesday. Other days were 19-20 deg., sunny and pleasant. Certainly warm enough for me - I go every year and it’s always similar. Wouldn’t swim in an unseated pool though. DD swam in the sea and was able to take her wetsuit off when warmed up.

That’s the eastern Algarve (10 min from Faro).

borntobequiet · 11/02/2020 20:09

unheated, oh dear

Yvonne99 · 11/02/2020 22:39

Algarve: absolutely amazing. Lovely warm weather, quiet endless beaches, oranges at peak season, friendly people, reasonably priced.

Indoor pool in Agrave: villa gale in Lagos, villa gale Atlantico, pestana apartments in Alvor. ( we have kids at similar age and similar criteria + walking distance to sandy beach, we have been going there for few years now, always Feb half term)

Canaries can be cold in February it didn’t stop the kids swimming but it as cold.

the website accuweather is fantastic for this sort of search. put in somewhere you want to stay and look at what the weather was like in Feb 19, 18,17 etc to work out if its warm enough for you. we do this all the time when choosing places to go.

Maybe Sicily?
I think almost all European places will have unheated pools though Sad

Third Portugal. We were in Tavira (which is about a 30 minute taxi ride from Faro airport) 2 years ago and it was about 18-19 degrees. Very pretty town with some history & lots of restaurants. DD did swim in the outdoor pool (we stayed in the converted convent near the castle) but too cold for us grown ups! Very nice to sit outside though in the sunshine by the pool though with a glass of wine or two!

Valleta in Malta is lovely to walk around and probably a bit warmer than lots of short haul places.

Abu Dhabi we went last year in feb and had a amazing time

Holymolymackerel · 17/02/2020 20:27

I came back from Lanzarote on Thursday. It was wonderful. Warm enough to lounge around the pool reading and relaxing without getting burnt to a crisp. Able to swim in the sea

Just needed a cardy or hoodie for evening.
