Ideas for a novice would-be traveller

Have got a real itch to travel and wanted any ideas of a place to go for a couple of weeks with a wow factor (we usually go to Dorset / Cornwall so will be easily wowed!)thats also good for kids? Was thinking of Goa / Southern India but not sure if its a good plan with a two year old (sure the eight year old would be fine most places). Cheers

Any ideas or do I spend the cash on choc and watch Loose Women for eternity (Arrrrgh)- my future is in your hands!
