Please talk to me about this area, I've found a hotel I like the look of and would be going end of July. Never been to a canary island before though so I don't know what to expect. Weather, beach, town etc.

It will be hot although the sea won't be that warm - OK for swimming, but not bathwater temperature.

Where in PDC? There's the old town around the marina area, which has some nice restaurants, west of Playa Chica, which is hopefully visible on this link.

Playa Chica is a nice small beach good for snorkelling.

If you go east of Playa Chica, most of it is less traditional and more 'English Breakfasts'.

We go to PDC to scuba dive and tend to stay in walking distance of the marina and the dive shop that we use, on playa chica beach and never venture to the east side.

I went there last June.
Stayed in suite hotel fariones. The beach right outside this hotel is nice, wide and sandy. The water was clean and was shallow for quite a way out.

Didnt experience any bad weather or bad currents in the sea, a little bit breezy but that's it.
The area around the old harbour is nicest if you want tapas and seafood. The water is very clear and you can feed all kinds of fish in great numbers from all along the inner harbour area.

There is a nice fish restaurant there which is right on the side with steps into the water.

If you want curry and fry ups in sports bars type places you can walk along the beach in the other direction (towards arracife) and you will find many restaurants like this.

I enjoyed a half day trip to the volcanic areas and a short trip on a fish viewing submarine at Puerto Calerto just along the coast.
I went with a 4 year old so didn't really do anything very adventurous.

I've been going to lanzarote, and staying in matagorda (the los pocillos end) for the last 20 years. I absolutely love it there.

The food in local restaurants is fantastic, it's got a relaxed laid back nightlife. It's very very clean. Theres nothing not to like.

A tip. If you are thinking of renting a car, I really advise hiring and picking up on arrival at the airport. Its much cheaper than in the resorts.. And it saves on airport transfers (don't book them anyway as even if you arent hiring a car, you are staying ten mins from airport and a cab from the airport arrivals queue is about ten euro)

We've stayed in Los Pocillos twice and had lovely holidays. It is quiet but with enough to do iyswim.
