DD is 2 years and is in a forward facing car seat. We are booked to go abroard in around 6 weeks time and are just trying to arrange stuff we need.

What do we do about a car seat..? Last time we went we took her cary car seat which we will do the same for ds (6 months), do we take the car seat we are using atm or is there a lighter option.? ie a booster seat.?

TIA XX

It goes on weight doesn't it, I think they have to be 15kg to go on a booster seat. I have just looked at our car hire doc today and see that they rate an infant seat up to 13kg, that would put my 2yr old who only weighs 10kg into it!

Are you hiring car or just going around in buses/taxis?

If you're hiring you can hire them from car hire, some don't charge but the bigger ones like Avis do but it isn't that much, we did that for DD2 in Portugal a few weeks ago. Cost about £30 for 10 days (something like that).

We have used car hire seats in the past and it can be a bit hit and miss as to whether the seat would be considered UK suitable. My son is very small for age (just 3) and last summer they tried to give us a seat that was just a booster with straps, but I said I wouldn't take it and sent them to find a different one. It may depend who you are flying with what you can take, as we are flying with BA next month and an infant (under 2) can have a car seat in addition to luggage.

well we are using a taxi as we don't intend to travel once there..just want a relaxing time as need a break due to ds being ill since he was born.....

I believe a car seat won't be classed as part of our allowance so we can take it without any problem but wondered if there was any option that was lighter iykwim.....

DD is 2.3 years and weighs just under 2 stone....
