Pop up tent for beach - any ideas ?

We are off on hols to the algarve on Monday - thought of getting a tent for the beach so DD's have some shade if it gets too hot (although checking the weather today there's not much chance of that).
I have seen people before with ones that just pop up - thought i'd found one, but it has arrived today and it a proper camping tent with hooks and poles .

Does anyone know what I am trying to describe and where I can get them from ?

Yes, but they are a bit rubbish TBH - you are better with one with the poles with strings in that fit together. From camping shops. You can get an inflatable one from Mothercare and they are half price at the mo (ELC do them as well). BUT I always worry about them flying away with your car keys in while you are having an icecream . You can't exactly peg them down!

Argos do them, but not the pop up ones. I looked at the pop up ones when we got back from Cornwall and found some by googling, but they are really expensive - £30-£40.

I think ours came from the Great Little Trading Company. It's pop up, and there are pockets on the outside that you can fill up with sand to weigh it down.

Bought it a long time ago so not sure if they still do it!

What would you fix a proper tent to though ? It has hooks and rope - surely it wont fix into sand ?

I've got a small pop-up tent which is UV protected etc. We've used it for ours but it is small.
Try this link: www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000IVVGS6/sr=1-2/qid=1187776040/ref=sr_1_2/202-1537516-3883820?ie=UTF 8&mcb=core.
If it doesn't work go to mothercare.com and its the infant sun tent 24.99.
It's yours for £5 plus p&p

If you want something cheap and cheerful, Ikea have one that looks like a ladybird, in the children's section. It was only about 7 pounds and opens really, really easily- just opens like a fan. I figured we'll only use it a couple of times on holiday so I didn't go for one of the more expensive ones!

We have a beach cabana that uses three carbon fibre poles that thread through channels in the tent. It takes 5-10 minutes to set up, but when you are on the beach, time is not usually that precious.

I just got back from my hols and prior to going spent ages trawling the net looking for a tent for me, Dh and my 3 lo's..I nearly bought the mothercare one..£40 and looked too small.. in the end I opted for buying a couple of beach umberellas when I got there.. cheaper, provided much more shade, could still see all round and can easily shake sand off beach towels.
