Sicily with 8 month old baby

New to mumsnet
I am travelling to Sicily with DD 8 months and DS 3years
It feels like the biggest challenge of my parenting career so far, though it shouldn't!
I have never been overseas with the children
Would like to share others experiences of Sicily and babies

Particualr concerns are

  1. What pram to take, we have a bugaboo and buggy board which I want to take, DH thinks its too big? 2.Baby food, what sort of things are available as ready made jars/packets etc for quick fix feeding times? 3.Any other hints/tips all really gratefully reicived

I don't want to end up with a 'taking the kitchen sink' situation

Many Thanks

Welcome to MN. Can't help with Sicily specifically but you'll find lots of general travel advice from MNs.
Are you going to a hotel or a villa?
Are you renting a car?
All relevant to help decide what to take etc.

Thankyou
Renting a villa, near to the sea
Not hiring a car as understand everything we need in the town we are staying and lots to do
Travel company said they will provide car seats for transfer (should I trust this to happen?)
References on airline website about taking car seats which has also confused me!
I think what I want is someone to send me a foolproof list of everything I need to take and do!!

You have enough to take without worrying about car seats. I'd would get the travel company to confirm in writing that they will provide and leave it at that, you can't fret about every possible problem.
Buggies would be my main issue - I would be very tempted to buy/borrow 2 cheap umbrella style buggies. If DS is closer to 3 than 4 you may find he still wants to rest if you are out and about. However if you plan to stick to the villa then there's no reason why you can't check in your bugaboo. That being said if it is big you may find you have to hand it in at check in leaving you without anything whilst you wait for the plane. If you take a smaller umbrella buggy you should be able to keep hold of it until you board.
How about a sling for the little one?
Babyfood - i'm sure you should be able to find what you need once you get there.

taermina is fabby there is a british pharmacy on the main street sells food, baby mineral water for your formula etc but no formulas on sale so you got to take a box and a supermarket too for all baby stuff eg nappies
