Ideas for a warm honeymoon in March?

I’m feeling pretty uninspired, help!

I want:

  • warm enough to swim in the sea
  • golden/white sandy beach
  • nice hotel
  • lush greenery, waterfalls, pretty fish, stunning stars at night
  • things to do/see

DP wants:

  • warm
  • off-the-beaten-track adventure

We were looking at Tenerife but it seems so grey and barren. We’ve got 7 nights so don’t want to spend ages getting there.

Any ideas?

I went to Goa for mine . Loved it . I think March was the end of the season

Well tenerife doesn't fulfill many of your requirements, to get what you want in March you are going to haxve to fly further afield. Especially if you want hot and greenery.

Mexico?

zafferana · 28/09/2019 10:12

Your list is pretty comprehensive OP - if you want all that in March then I'd say look at Mauritius. It's a long flight, but the time difference isn't too onerous and you should get everything you both want.

South Goa is beautiful. It's towards end of season so is quieter. There are top notch 5 star hotels, and lots of lower priced accommodation and specialist guest houses.

Caribbean is also in season then with lots of choice.

Thanks. We’re looking at all those suggestions now.

Jamaica

Europe is slow to warm up.
I’d go to Florida. Flights aren’t expensive ( Norweign Air do a budget version). Hot, sunny, stars. Lots to do and as you can fit Britian into Florida three times, plenty of quiet spots. Miami, St Petersburg, Boca Ratone are all lovely.

ThomasRichard · 29/09/2019 21:31

I’m a bit scared of Florida due to the alligators Blush I wouldn’t be able to relax. Plus Trump...

Mexico’s Caribbean coast looks like a winner. We’re both excited about the Mayan ruins and the watersports.

La palma in the canaries would suit your dp, I would have suggested Sri Lanka but not sure of the security situation currently. India maybe? Budget would help with suggestions

We honeymooned in Mexico, it was fantastic!

Costa Rica.

Peerless beauty. Stunning beaches for you, beach, forest-walks /treks best in world. ( I've been combining beach-hunting and nature walking 30 yrs) High quality hotels.

Also, if you're as crazy as I am about flying, treat yourself to the latest Boing DREAMLINER ... you do not need first class because economy is like BA first class.

jamesforsythe · 30/09/2019 10:16

mind you, with the rate at which the climate is warming
you might find any beach in Southern Europe is adequate.

jamesforsythe · 30/09/2019 10:19

Agree : Sri Lanka is usually very safe but there's been two flashpoints in that old dispute recently.

Don't go to Goa.

Costa Rica: best February/March ever.

thisisthetime · 30/09/2019 10:46

We went to Mauritius in March, was lovely

ThomasRichard · 01/10/2019 18:32

I’d love to go to Costa Rica but that’s our planned family trip for 2021 so we ruled that out. I’m glad it’s as good as it looks!
