Is it possible to get compensation for this cock up......

.....Flying with air berlin on tues, first the flight was cancelled after we had checked in. They booked us on to the next flight 9 hours later....

Once we checked in for that flight the man on the desk took 15 mins with us standing there, another girl helping him type in codes etc. When I grumbled about the time it was taking he began to explain the process of checking us in for the connecting flight from stanstead then said," You wouldn't understand?!" Erm, excuse me?!

THEN sure enough our baggage didn't arrive in Paderborn, Germany on our flight. They airport was very helpful and tracked it down in Stanstead and it arrived on Thursday morning (they day before we left for home again!) I've kept the tag on the bag saying man-std (no mention of transfer or Paderborn) So obviously incompetence led to this problem.

Has anyone had any experience of this kind of thing, is it possible to apply for compensation or am I wasting my breath?

Though quite a boring question I agree, I feel I owe myself a little bump

Not sure about the lost luggage but my DH and his friends got nowhere with Easyjet over a cancelled flight.

Ah thanks Mrs S and onlywotz, I read the doc but somehow I think that they might get round this somehow. What annoys me more than anything was that the flights were £130 each, not exactly cheap. Bring back Ryanair all is forgiven!

How about your Holiday Inurance for delay ??

Marina · 11/08/2007 18:06

No advice whatsoever but that your trip was so messed up lizzer

Lizzer · 11/08/2007 21:08

Thanks Marina, but it got worse - thunder storms, flash flooding and dd winding herself badly in a freak accident where a metal chain snapped on the swing she was swinging on! Definitely one of 'those' trips - obviously we can laugh about it all now

Good idea Onlywotz, I'll look into it, thanks
