Portugal in October with 2 yr + 7 mo advice please!

Myself, husband and 2 daughters (2yrs and 7months) are going to Portugal in a couple of weeks. I was hoping for any tips and advice on how to make holiday as easy and enjoyable as possible for us all.

Take change if clothes in hand luggage
Get a hire car at the airport
Stay the night before flight at airport hotel if over 100 miles away
Have a great time Portugal is lovely

I wouldn't get a hire car or stay in an airport hotel! Adding in too many factors where things can go wrong.

Sleep in your normal environment the night before the flight, just leave in plenty of time.

Avoid driving if you don't need to as dragging car seats etc and driving unfamiliar roads can be stressful.

Take blankets and inflatable sit me up thing to make a little play area next to your sun loungers. Plenty of shade and sun cream. Upload games to iPad for the 2 year old to play on on the flight.

I used to make up party bags for each evening with little toys/activities and sweets etc in them for each evening meal. Kept them entertained and quiet while we were eating. Enjoy
