Grand Canyon helicopter trip

Hi, just needing some advice as the choice is vast. Wanting to do a Grand Canyon helicopter or plane trip with kids but don't know where to start! I know I want to be picked up from strip and that I want to see the actual Grand Canyon rather than the west rim, apparently that's not the real thing. I've spent ages researching and could do with some actual advice if anyone who's been there done that that.
Thanks Smile

Could you hire a car and drive there?

We did this package with the Skywalk. It was a brilliant day and highly recommend.

We drove there and did a helicopter trip from right near the rim. Absolutely amazing and the helicopter had a see through floor which made it even better, although slightly terrifying! Our was with a company called Papillon.

Relatives of mine took a plane trip from Vegas and said it was very good too

Thanks I've seen one with papillon that looks good so good to know you've done it and it was good. There's just so many to pick from. Did you book in advance or when you where there?
We've looked at the skywalk but had mixed reviews and it's not the actual Grand Canyon apparently but thanks anyway.

We've just come back from California and did a Canyon trip with Papillion.
I wouldn't recommend them as when we got there they split our family of 5 into 2 separate helicopters. It was my sons 21st birthday as well. We queried it but it was basically either do the trip or come back tomorrow which wasn't possible as time is precious. Basically they split us to accommodate a larger group who were of a heavier weight than our family.

We've just booked for October with Sundance. It's not the real Grand Canyon, I get that but I think it will be a million miles from stuff I've seen before so am excited about it. Gawd it's expensive though 😬

Best thing I've ever done in my life!

We were picked up on the strip by taxi which took us to the airport, We went over the hoover dam and the grand canyon. We landed in Arizona at a cowboy ranch and were fed (proper cowboy food Grin) and watched them do real cowboy stuff with the ropes and whatnot, then watched the sunset on the red rocks which were mega red with the sun on them.

Then we got back in and flew down the strip in the dark so it was all lit up.

I can't remember who we went with but I will see if I can find my brochures.

One thing with this trip though, it was lovely and warm in Vegas but when we got to Arizona there was snow and we were not prepared!

We did this trip - Flight + Sky Walk with Sundance

It was amazing. I'm sure there is much more of the Grand Canyon that you can see, but what we saw was spectacular. There's nothing better to give you the scale of it when you look down from the top and see a tiny dot at the bottom and realise it's another helicopter!

Sundance were excellent. Limo pickup from the hotel and dropped back off afterwards too and we shared the helicopter with a lovely American family. We paid the extra $20 each to upgrade to the other type of helicopter which had much bigger windows and that was well worth it.

When they say it's cold though, it is. It may be relatively close to Vegas but the temperature difference is very noticeable, or at least it was in November!

When we were researching we were put off by Papillon as (I understand) they are the only company to have had crashes and my DP was nervous enough as it was!
