If you arrive at the Channel Tunnel (Folkestone) early, or need food or accommodation after travelling, head to the small village of Etchinghill, one mile to the north, as it has several good B&B's and a very good gastropub. I stumbled upon it by accident, stayed at a B&B called 'One Step Beyond' (they don't have a website), but you can find details about that (and other hotels / B&B's) on the pub website The New Inn. All very handy if heading to/from France.
