Cruise tipping - royal Caribbean

We've prepared all our gratuities but a friend suggested we need to give the cabin steward a tip. Should we pay that in dollars or euro?

Also can you take heated hot brushes on board?

Other tips welcome!! I've looked at cruise forums but they are a bit scary!!

Just off Independence last week

There was one EU plug in the room and 2 USA ones

If you are in europe tip in euros. and yest hot brushes are allowed

Have a FAB time - which ship are you on

Take ear plugs! Royal Caribbean ships have an atrium that is like a vertical well running down several decks of the ship, and they have ear blasting pop music in the bottom of it, which bounces off the walls all the way up. It’s painful as you have to walk through the cacophony of the atrium on any deck level to get from stern to prow.
Guests are repeatedly exhorted to “Make some noise” by hosts even during quiet activities like quizzes.
The sun deck offers no escape- there is a large cinema screen and thumping pop music out there as well.
The largely US clientele seemed happy with the noise level. As a Brit with autism, I came close to meltdown!

Thanks! We're on Jewel.

I'm half looking forward to it half expecting Butlins at sea!! We are not a family for organised activities.

Will add ear plugs to the list!

The thing is you can indulge with it all as much as you like - it could be butlins at sea if you want it to be but it doesnt have to be. but for the kids it's really good. - We've done 4 and love it

You will probably find there is a facebook page for your sailing which can be helpful etc

I was on Jewel of the Seas in June. You don’t need to tip your steward extra. Only if you want to.

hopeishere · 04/08/2019 08:51

Thanks furball I've found that - very helpful!!

I've been on two RCC and loved them both!

We were Caribbean cruises and tipped our steward an extra $50 for the week. He was awesome!

Book your shows ahead of the cruise online, much easier and it's easy to change them onboard.

It's nothing like Butlins. If you were doing a Carnival cruise then maybe.

This one doesn't seem to have the option to books shows.

I'm am bidding on an upgrade though!
