Arnside and Silverdale or Kendal way

ANyone have any recommendations about good things to do in that general area with children aged about 10?

I've seen there's an RSPB reserve
horse trekking
Arnside beach

ANy Lake District things we should do? Is that Beatrix Potter world place as rubbish as it looks on the tourist info site?

true, I can't think of any mnetter mentioning the lake district
