Disney world Florida for Halloween

We are going to going to Disney over the Halloween period and having bought our tickets have now realised that the Halloween parades aren't on every night and cost another $500!
Does anyone know if they are worth it or if the normal parades that are on are just as good at that time? Wondering what the actual difference is?

Hi we went last year to the night time events and they were amazing!

I suppose it depends what age the kids are?

The normal day parades over Halloween are the same as normal, not Halloween based.

We decided against them last year and just planned our Magic Kingdom day for days the Halloween thing wasn't on, so it wouldn't close early.

Dh and Dd did the Universal Halloween horror night. I'm too much of a coward! They loved it but it was scary and for age 13+.

The Disney night is totally different and is very much child based with trick or treat type events. But we just couldn't justify how much they cost!

We were there for Halloween night about 7 years ago. It was expensive but good fun. Everyone dresses up to go into the park and we were handed bags on the way in which were rammed full of sweets by the time we left we made sure we got our money's worth with tickets being so expensive
It was a one off and not something we'd do again. We couldn't do the Universal night as our youngest was underage and our oldest doesn't like horror.

All the parades are excellent, the normal ones are just as good as the themed ones they just don’t have the themes.
Having said that I love mickeys not so scary, the parade and fireworks are brilliant, you can collect your body weight in free candy to offset some of the cost, ride times are usually low and it’s a great atmosphere.
So really it depends what $500 is to you in relation to your holiday. I would do it but it depends if you need to sacrifice something in order to go.

I've been to the Halloween nights a few times and have always loved it! They do a Halloween parade with different characters than usual and different music, there's trick or treating and meet and greets with different characters eg. Villains and nightmare before Christmas characters. There's also different shows on. The last year I went it was a hocus pocus musical which was great and then the firework display had all the villains music. I also found the lines for rides to be a lot shorter. So if your family are into Halloween and you can afford it, I would say go.

Think of it in terms of your children will never be that age again. The experience you have this year can never be repeated as they will be different next year.

Do it if you can afford it

Mickey's not so scary Halloween party isn't just a parade!
There is a parade, a special fireworks show, limited edition snacks, limited edition merch, different "scary" characters, trick or treating (sooooo much candy), Hocus Pocus sisters performance including other villains, plus the whole family can dress up (there are rules). They also adapt some of the rides so they are different to in the day and there are Halloween photo pass plus picture locations. And a headless horseman before the parade.

We go this year, I've researched it alot!

I can't stand the Halloween stuff (and I love Disneyworld). The "Boo for you" song is dreadful and repetitive and the trick or treating is rubbish, big queue just to get a small chocolate/sweet bar from a cast member.

I did like part of the parade....but that awful song!

I wouldn't waste your money.

underneaththeash · 01/08/2019 08:59

However......DD(8) did ask to go again this year and the rest of us said NO.

My two are mad for everything Halloween so it looks like we'll most likely to going! Thanks for the replies.
