Driving in France - Crit Air Certificate

GoAndAskDaddy · 08/07/2019 15:42

Finding it hard to determine whether we need one of these critical air certificate things… Driving from Zeebrugge down past Lille (which maybe in the zone?). I think I have left it too late anyway to get one. DH is the kind to think rules don’t apply to us and we will be okay; I am not that type. Has anybody got any advice please? Many thanks!

This from the RAC is up to date:-

Thanks Attila.... I have seen that but wondered if anybody had been on the motorway past Lille specifically; The zone maps appeared very difficult to interpret!

The sticker costs less than £5 and i think it lasts quite a while so id always get one to be on the safe side and at least you have one then if you were to need it in future

In terms of timing I've applied for a couple last month and they've arrived within a week. Couldn't figure out if we would need them but for £4 means we are covered regardless

Thanks.... we are going on Friday, I will apply for one but unlikely to come on time.

When you apply for one, they send you an email and you can use that as proof until such a time as the real certificate arrives

Found the email:

"We kindly request you to find as attachment your invoice relative to the Air Quality Certificate order concerning the registered vehicle *

Your certificate will soon be sent by mail at the address indicated during your order.
In the wait , this invoice allows you to prove your approach and the classification of your vehicle.

Yours sincerely,

The Air Quality Certificate Service"

Thank-you!

As above, you apply online and get a certificate you can use straight away. Surprisingly, for bureaucratic France, it’s very simple and fast.

Which website did you order one from? The website I am on seems to want 29 Euros for a crit-air certificate!!!

wobytide · 11/07/2019 08:05

www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/

Is the Government site. Others Looks like it's another EHIC type of scam where people charge you for submitting via their site hence the extortion

GoAndAskDaddy · 11/07/2019 08:25

Yes, the one above. 4.21Euros.......certificate printed so will just take this.

There is at least one non-official site selling the vignettes at more than six times the price on the official website. Don't be fooled – always buy through the French environment ministry.

Thank you very much!
