Lisbon and Cascais - Recommendations

LaLaFlottes · 23/06/2019 09:34

Hello!
We are going to Cascais on Saturday. Me, DH and DD (16).
We are staying at the Sheraton Resort and can’t wait for a post exams holiday!
We are just there for one week and want to see Lisbon.
Any recommendations for Lisbon and Cascais and surrounding area?
We will hire a car but also like to hire bikes.
Any thoughts and recommendations would be welcome!
Thanks!

Google Sintra - it's a very (and cheap) easy train ride away. Amazing place, really worth spending the whole day there. In fact, a day isn't enough in my opinion! I'm going to go back one day!

The train ride along the coast from Cascais to Lisbon is cheap and frequent and takes under 45 mins. It's a scenic and interesting ride and the station it arrives to in Lisbon is a short walk from the city shops etc and the lovely Time Out market for food! I'm sure you'll want to do this at least twice.

We stay in Lisbon which we love, but we also loved Cascais, which reminded me of a warmer and drier St Ives!

I think you're going to have a lovely time. Hope you do!

Another vote for Sintra.

It’s a few years since I’ve been but there used to be a restaurant across the bridge from the lighthouse that did great seafood. Looks a bit like a shack.

Lovely place.

Best, think that’s the esplanada Santa Marta. It was closed at Easter, which is a shame. Not sure if it’s reopened. 5 sentidos is great and we also have frequently been to the Farol, which has a lovely setting but has some poor reviews recently.

Oh no, Shangrila, I just googled and it’s permanently closed. It was 2011 that we were last there so quite a while back but I have fond memories. One of my favourite places for a holiday.

Is Somos um regalo still there? One of my favourites, no frills but the best chicken piri piri.
