Passport check and send - worth it?

Renewing dd's passport (shes 19 and it will be her first 10 year one) and wondering if post office check and send is worth it. The form seems fairly straightforward, we've had one of the photos countersigned just in case and its a trek to the nearest post office that does check and send, so was going to just send it special delivery from my local office. We aren't in a great rush to get it back but I've heard that check and send is quicker?
Any thoughts?

I took the photo of my DH against the lounge wall. It was SO easy. You stand the distance away they say and snap. When you upload it, they make it the size they want. First attempt and it worked!

Mine is due for renewal soon - I have told him he will have to take about 100 before I'm happy Grin

You don't need strong lighting. Just take it in daylight against a plain wall of a light colour.

I ve always done it previously but didn't this time and it was absolutely fine. I would do it if you are in a hurry to get it back but otherwise no. In fact once I paid and it came back with a mistake that they had missed with check and send anyway! They literally scan it pretty quickly

I don't think check and send is any faster

Check and send very good and our ds passport returned in just over a week.

Ours came back quickly without check and send and was also about £20 cheaper! (Around £10 cheaper for online application and nearly £10 check and send fee)

Did mine online, it came back really quickly. Snappy Snaps give you a code to enter so no need to upload photos.

We just took photos on our phone against a light wall so didn't have to pay for photos

Yes not cheaper, I meant if I was in a hurry and had to make sure it was 100% would be approved. But as I said once they sent it back with a mistake anyway

Just an update. Didn't use check and send, just posted it special delivery 9 days ago and received it back today. Pretty quick service.
