Hi there

We have an event to go to in the Winchester area in mid October. Our DS will be 19mo old (still sleeps in a cot) and our DD will be 4.5mo old.

Any suggestions for hotels for one (Saturday) night?

Many thanks!!

The winchester Hotel is nice and central, depends on your budget?? because there is always the Hotel du Vin!

There's an event in Winchester? Imagine the excitement. What will they do?

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 24/07/2007 09:19

Break out the tea and scones I should imagine

JolieGirl · 24/07/2007 09:23

Hotel du Vin if you can stretch to it!

If not then the Wykeham Arms has 14 rooms - it is a glorious pub in a fabulous location.

ditto joliegirl - hotel du vin is fab...as is wykeham arms but hotel du vin prob better for babies/children...also go see the anthony gormley statue in the crypt of the cathedral is quite amazing...then go to the hambledon for gorgeous 70's style toys and chic clothes if your overdraft will stretch to spending there! - just almost opposite the hambldon is a great little cafe - does brilliant brunches and coffess etc - sit out if the weather is nice - winchester is fab...

Stayed at the Hotel du Vin (back before we had kids/back when we had money!!) --- not sure it would really suit having us with the two LOs?

Will check out Wykeham Arms thanks -

(event is only just a christening, am sure good people of Winchester can consume tea & scones with nary a disturbance from us boring lot)

when you say in the Winchester area what do you mean? In winch or near?

Lainston House is supposed to be nice

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 24/07/2007 18:37

I've not heard great things about Lainston House, not as friendly or as helpful as the HduV.. plus George bush Snr stayed there last year

lilQuidditchKel · 24/07/2007 21:05

the ceremony will be in Mottisfont actually - but the host is staying at Hotel du Vin in Winchester, so really anywhere around the area is fine!

is that the 90s monstrosity on the site of the old cattle market/coach station?

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 26/07/2007 12:24

Not sure it's on Worthy Lane of North walls?

virgo · 26/07/2007 13:04

try the greyhound in stockbridge - do lovely breakfasts..and you can feed the ducks in the morning!

lilQuidditchKel · 31/07/2007 15:08

just to say thanks for the recommendations - we went for Hotel du Vin in the end. They really seem to be nice about the little ones...
