Why was I asked for my passport on a train travelling from Paris to Granville?

None of the French passengers were asked for theirs. And the train only travelled within France, so no borders crossed. Was the official just being a bit of a bolleaux? He also seemed to have some sort of an issue with our tickets which were perfectly valid.

Maybe you just look English, therefore he wanted to be a pr*

I put three* but only one showed!

No, he asked and we told him we were Irish! Usually, sad to say, we find that tends to make hostile French people friendlier but not this guy!

Moondog, I assure you, I look as legal as anyone else!
