New York/Chicago with a 5 month old?

There is a possibility of a trip to US with some friends of DPs from work at the beginning of September. We have a 14 week old DS who will be just hitting 5 months at the time of travel. He is breastfed and usually sleeps in bed with me, so no has no special requirements at the moment.

Am I being crazy to even consider taking him along on this trip? Part of me feels adventurous and capable, another part feels anxious and apprehensive.

I dont see why it would be a problem.

What are they planning to do?

I would take him. But, I would take a cheapo pram that you won't be too upset about if the airline ruins it. Where are you going to stay?

Chicago is lovely, but then I'm biased... not to mention jealous.

Not sure where we'd be staying, probably a decent hotel though. The friends are fond of fine wining and dining but I'd be happy sightseeing at day and staying in at night and getting room service - I'm so sad.

If you stay at the Seneca you can get a room with a kitchen which I find very helpful with midnight baby demands for milk and such. Also you can stay in and order food for delivery without spending a fortune on terrible hotel food. It it next to the Hancock building (where I highly recommend you go for drinks in the evening to check out the Chicago skyline). The best view (I kid you not) is from the womens bathroom. I think it looks out over the Pier.

I am sooooo jealous. I want to go home (sniff sniff).

Let me know if you want any recommendations/advice. I am obviously from Chicago. I grew up in the subirbs and my mum lives spitting distance from the Seneca.
