Am driving from London to Trebetherick on Thursday with grumpy toddler - any tips for pit stops along the route?

Hi guys,

Would appreciate any advice you've got for nice places to pull off the motorway and stretch our legs/get some food on the trip.

We've resigned ourselves to it taking forever, dd can't go more than 45mins without a whinge at the moment unless she's asleep, so all help gratfully received!

A friend has recommended Killerton House in Devon as having a good garden/cream tea shop - any comments on that?

Thanks!

I'd strongly advise getting a children's walkman and some story tapes - keep them as a novelty for the journey - it may take a while for her to get to grips with turning the tape over, volume etc but definitely worth it.

Have a good holiday

Thanks quint, but she's 2.5 - I don't think she could physically handle a walkman atm - she's still at the stage of throwing toys all around the car and then screaming for them back again, so pitstops are our best bet - perhaps when she's older!

Cheers anyway!

Yep, you'll probably have to stop quite a few times no matter what.

We found our 2.5 DS last year managed the drive from UK to S France over 2 days much better with a CD we put together of lots of songs and nursery rhymes. Emphasis on lots unless you don't mind "The wheels on the bus" 20 times running... :0

Trebetherick . Lucky you!

Anyway, whenever I go there I stop for lunch here The Elliot Arms. It's just outside Launceston and about 45 mins from Trebetherick. It might not be suitable though, it hasn't got a garden. A lovely pub nonethless and they were lovely with dd (3 at the time) when we went there.
