Best cheap UK holiday destinations

I'm about to return to work after mat leave. Money is super tight but I want to ensure that we are spending lots of quality time together as a family and would like to do some short trips away in the UK. DD is currently 8 months so it needs to be family friendly, not too far from the south coast (happy to drive a few hours) and also be suitable for DSS (15) if he chooses to come a long. I have no idea where to even start finding places. Self catering or inclusive are both fine. Does anyone have any recommendations?

you could look at an air b n b in St Albans. Its a lovely place with a roman museum, lovely walks (it has several parks including a huge pond with ducks and a splash park), a clocktower which you can climb up etc. on wednesdays and saturdays there is a market.all the best x
