Suggestions for days out over summer hols

Am starting to compile a list of things to keep the kids occupied over summer, so though I would start this thread to see if anyone else has any good ideas.

Mine are:
fruit picking
day out at local farm
picnic in park
trip to London, perhaps go on boat down the Thames, nothing too pricey
soft play areas for wet days
library
beach (optimistically hoping for weather to improve)

Erm, that's it at the moment. Any suggestions from anyone else?

Check out your local leisure centre.

ds1 is doing multisports for a morning and krazy karts (gocarting) on another day.

Our local softplay area is charging £1 for Mondays during the summer so we will do that too.

what about mug painting in one of the arty cafes around?

A MN meetup?

Where do you live?

One of the museums here does craft mornings.

Nature parks are a good bet, often free and increasingly with things specifically for kids. Lots of woods, animals etc. Check out your local council website.
Same for local water authority lakes and reservoirs.
Model trains
Also check your local radio station website (especially the commercial ones) as they often put stuff on over the hols for kids on)
