Car parking at Manchester airport

Is it just me or has parking at the airport increased massively over the years? Some quotes I'm getting are more expensive than my flight.

So looking for recommendations please or discount codes. I've searched online but can't see anything worthwhile, maybe I've missed something?

I'm off to meet and greet terminal 2 tomorrow. Paid £60 for one week!

It might be worth you considering car hire. We found it cheaper than leaving our car at the airport.

Sorry... posted too soon. Meant to say it was originally going to be £72, but I paused the booking process for a few days and suddenly got an email offering a £12 discount.

I always find booking through the link on Moneysavingexpert to get the best price.

What are your quotes? The fact that they're more expensive than your flight are kind of irrelevent because flying can be ridiculously cheap for what you get. I've been to the Canaries for £30 return, and yes, I did probably pay more than that to park at the airport, no way does £30 cover the cost of getting me to the Canaries. So the industry has to make it's money somewhere. I read once that cheap flights are just the carrot to get people to the airport so they can spend money on parking, luggage, food and drink, and stuff from the shops.

Last time I parked at Manchester, I paid £51 for 8 days in the official meet and greet car park, which isn't too bad, considering that any parking there costs a minimum of about £32 (I do a day trip from there a couple of times a year, and I pay that for about 10 hours parking).

You could always go by train instead, but it's likely if there are two or more of you, it will cost more than driving and parking and take longer and be less convenient.

If you have an early flight, you might want to stay in an airport hotel the night before, and they sometimes have deals that include the parking you need.

If you're doing a day trip from Manchester airport have you considered using metrolink. You can park at sale waterpark for free a return to there is under 5.00 much cheaper if you are going after 9.30. The trams run most of the night from around 3.30am and the last tram is 1.10am
