We're off to Denmark in August - staying on the coast north of Copenhagen.

Any tips or ideas about where to go, what to do etc? Also, any thoughts for the ferry with a 6mo and 3.5 yr old?

And how easy is it to get Goat's milk and organic food in Danish supermarkets?

All thoughts, comments welcome, thank you.

Hi Babydriver,

I am danish myself and will be going to DK next week for the whole summer - can't wait. I take it it is your first trip there? We will be staying in a different area in DK from you though.

Ferry is really good with the kids. You are mainly sailing during their sleeping time anyway. They have some entertainment onboard as well, so time passes really quickly. Hardly any traffic in DK and really good roads so that part is quite enjoyable too.

Shopping should also be no problem. Allthough if you are staying in a smaller town then I ofcourse cannot guarantee...

Have a lovely time. Hopefully the weather will be good.

Denmark is lovely. We were there last summer, it's a great place to go with dc but I warn you steer away from the bakeries. They have really yummy pastries and cakes.

THe ferry will be fine I should think. We stayed on two different islands - Falster and then Funen so probably very diff to what you're planning. NO problem buying anything in the way of run of the mill food. Didn't try to get goat's milk though.

Your 3 year old would love legoland. Generally I think Denmark is a very relaxing comfortable place to go round with dc. We wandered about a couple of Viking reeactment settlements, dd loved that but she was 5 and people there were all great with kids

Sandy - are there Viking reenactment sites anywhere near Aarhus?
We are going to Denmark in August mainly to see the bog man at the museum nearby (I can't think of the name at the moment) and staying in the same area. Dd3 has just finished learning about the Vikings and the connection with Denmark passed me by until your post just now

thanks for the reassurance. I have been to Denmark before, but it was very many years ago and to a completely different part.

Hi ther,
Goats milk is called "Gede maelk"
But don't worry. Everyone ther will understand "Goats milk". The Danes are rather good at english (I say modestly)

thanks dangirl. Enjoy your holiday!
