Airport transfer with baby

2 holidays booked this year,

1- travelling on a package holiday in the summer with an 18m old. Includes airport transfer, presumably with a coach.

2- my fil has booked a transfer from the airport to hotel, presumably a minibus/taxi type thing.

Is my 18m old okay travelling on my lap? Or should I take a car seat?

Which country are you going to and how far is the transfer?. We went to corfu last year and the minibus provided child seats if required.

We’ve done a few transfers and asked for a baby seat which they provided all set up

Both Spain and I think about 20-30mins

Do they even put a car seat on a coach?

You won't have a car seat on a coach. It will probably be a lap belt so if you child has his or her own seat on the coach they would use their own lap belt. However as they are under 2 they might not get a seat and so would be on your lap. Can you ask the travel company?
For the taxi you can add a car seat to the booking i would have thought
