P&O vs Princess Med Cruise?

Hi all

Does anybody have opinions on which is better for a family with DCs doing UK round trip to the med, P&O or Princess?

We'd thought we were set on P&O but have heard Princess may be better and cover Italy which we particularly wanted.

Can't understand why they seem cheaper if they are meant to be higher class than P&O, where's the catch?

We have done both and preferred P&O kids clubs and the cabin was better...both had awesome facilities, food etc...both will be fab so I would go with itinerary and/or size of cabin!

I'm the opposite, we preferred the more relaxed feel of Princess & thought the food was better. The DC enjoyed Princess more too. I thought P&O was stuffy, tbh.

Have a look on the Cruise Critic forums, there's lots of advice on there.

Having done 13 cruises two with P&O I will never use P&O again both ships where grubby, last trip many of the toilets where blocked and the ship stank.
Never been with Princess, ask on Cruise critic.
We found Royal Caribbean and Celebrity had the best kids clubs

We have done both with DCs. As I said on my other post Princess used to be the US arm of P&O when it was an independent company so both are similar except the clientele is more international on Princess. P&O used to be better as the kids clubs were open all day so you didn’t have to pick up at set times. That seemed to have changed on our last cruise with them. Princess also used to insist that you bring your passport with you to collect your DCs from the kids club (even when the staff knew who you were) which was a pain. The plugs on Princess are American and the currency on board is $ not £.

We loved Royal Caribbean for the range of entertainment and some ships have climbing walls and surf machines which were great. However the ships had smoking areas right by the ice cream machines which we hated. Their cruises are also usually much more expensive.

I think cleanliness on board all ships always depends on your room cleaner. We always look in the corners and by the sides and under the beds before we unpack. It’s amazing how many abandoned items of clothing we have found hidden at the back of the bed! The cleanest we went on was Britannia.

HTH.
