Best tour to Niagara falls from Toronto?

We are going to Canada in August, but only have two days in Toronto before heading west.
We want to take a tour so we don't have to drive ourselves.
Can anyone recommend a particular tour for 2 adults and 4 teens/ tweens?

Rather than pay through the nose for a tour, why not take a bus? I’ve gone down on a Greyhound from Toronto (from the bus station) to Niagara before & there’s one other bus company I think who go several times daily

That's a good idea, thank you. I will look into it.

We went by train. There is one that goes from Toronto to new York that stops at Niagra Falls. Taxi from station to the falls.

Another good idea we hadn't considered.

I did one a few years ago when I visited Toronto with my DH. DH was working during the day so I went to Niagara by myself. I found a company that does mini bus tours which means they stop a bit closer to the falls so you don't have to walk so far - I think the coaches have to park a bit further out.

The train and bus would obviously be a lot cheaper, but you would miss out visiting Niagara on the Lake which is a lovely stop - although also the vineyard and farm shop which are less interesting.

We are going again in June with the DC and are planning to take the same tour again.

If you have time in Toronto, I would recommend a bike tour and the Steam Whistle Brewery tour which was recommended to me by MN last time. We also enjoyed going to a baseball game.

Here's the link for the tour I took - www.niagaradaytour.com

Defo do a baseball game if you can.

I went on the train, and when I got there I did a walking tour through the caves and a boat trip. It was years ago but I don’t remember any of it being difficult to organise.

After my post yesterday, I was wondering whether there was a better way to get to Niagara but also see Niagara on the Lake. When we go in June we aren't going to go back to Toronto as we are staying overnight in Niagara and getting the train to New York the next day.

I found this which you also might find interesting -

It seems to include the GO train from Toronto to Niagara and then the hop on hop off bus at Niagara and most interestingly (for me anyway), it includes the Niagara on the Lake extension. Having said that the prices/booking doesn't seem to be listed for this year yet.

Looks like that might be just at weekends. Do you know your dates/days yet?

Thank you so much for that information, will mull it over with DH.
We are only in Toronto for two whole days, the first Weekend in August, so the GO might be a possibility. We are then flying to Vancouver from where we are driving to Calgary.
