Scandinavia (or other interesting place) Home Stay

Has anyone any experience of a homestay - i.e. paying a family to stay with them as your holiday....?I once read a mag article about such a set up in Scandinavia (cant remember details unfortunately) and was hoping someone may have done something similar?

Not exactly but we stayed at Arola Bears in Finland and the family are there - wife cooks homemade food and juices you have for all meals and husband takes you on trips to see brown bears in the wild.
