Where is nice to visit over Easter for some sunshine?!

We’re considering Playa Blanca, Lanzarote.

Don’t really want total brits abroad, but somewhere nice, with some warm sun?

If mainland Spain, thinking Nerja or Estepona, but appreciate it won’t be quite so warm.

Kos?

We narrowed it down to the Canaries or the most southerly of the Greek Islands. We went with Rhodes in the end purely based on the fact that we felt we would have a nicer holiday in Greece than Canaries as we definitely got more for our money hotel wise. Also the whole family (me, DH, DM and 2 teen DC) agreed that although we want sunshine full on sunbathing weather was not our top priority. Saying all that, since booking I saw photos on my IG of three years ago when I was in Cyprus with DM and DD in April and DD has jeans and a jacket on so I'm hoping that come Easter I will still think we made the right decision. If all you really want is a pool and a sunbed then your best bet is Canaries.

There's a lot more to Lanzarote than brits abroad though. It's a volcano! And you can drive through the volcano, go to concerts in a hall/arts centre created from a hollowed out lava stream, go snorkeling and surfing, there are artists, extreme cyclists, wine producers, all sorts of people have made it their home.

I think we’re swaying towards Lanzarote! Possibly Playa Blanca?

Hi Op
We go to plays blancaevery year around Easter time and as pp have mentioned there is more to Lanzarote than sunbeds! We have a car for the week and explore, have a look at Cesar manrique's stuff on the island. The weather is always pleasant, mid 20s.

Tbf there is a brits abroad contingent as you'd expect with a Spanish territory, but settled people on the island are a lot more diverse than that and it's easy to drive around and find different stuff going on because the roads are good and there isn't a lot of traffic. Playa blanca itself is a nice beach, proper golden sands that go on forever sort of stuff. Famara is great for surfing. Papagayo is just gorgeous but you do have to work for your beach there - volcanic landscape. Check out airbnbs I'd say - we stayed in a beautiful place all in tune with the landscape quite poncey really near papagayo, not a beetroot brit in sight. Oh and everything is low rise - planning laws mean they can't go higher than six floors. So you have all these lovely little whitewashed cottages nestling into volcanic hills. Honestly - it's great!

We've stayed in other places as well, I might add, but I think that papagayo was my favourite.

Lanzarote is a bit Brits abroad but in a nice family friendly way, not Inbetweeners movie types! Climate at Easter is lovely and like previous posters have said, lots of unique arty culture and the wonderful volcanic national park. Also low rise buildings which is quite unusual in popular Spanish tourist areas.
